Wandering through the Central Bohemian region and the surroundings of Benešov

1

Let’s face it—you can throw just about anywhere. But throwing on one of the most beautiful castle grounds, where the magic of nature and history touch us at every turn? That’s part of what makes this year’s European Disc Golf Championship so unique. In addition to watching disc golf, you’ll also have the opportunity to see the romantic Konopiště chateau and explore its mysterious secluded places.

The ruins of the Minorite Monastery of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary near the centre of Benešov are certainly worth visiting.

Engineering enthusiasts will probably be more interested in the Jawa Museum Konopiště and the Motorcycle and Technical Museum in Netvořice.

Those who prefer beer over history and technology can wander a nature trail that will lead them to the local Ferdinand brewery, where you’ll learn about the process of brewing Benešov beer and even taste some of the results.

If art is more your thing, give the Museum of Art and Design Benešov a go. We would like to thank the museum and the City of Benešov for lending us dozens of panels to display gorgeous photos by Finnish photographer Eino Ansio and Czech photographer Kryštof Novák on Masaryk Square in Benešov.

These are just a few interesting things to see and do in Benešov and its surroundings.

More ideas on places to visit in Central Bohemia include: Český Šternberk Castle, the mystical mountain Blaník, the Sázava Monastery, the Military History Museum in Lešany and the zoo in Vlašim.
